I have had the pleasure of knowing Lila MacDowell for decades. My first memory of her goes back to when she was a student in a class I taught. Even then, she left a lasting impression on me as someone who was thoughtful, kind and deeply committed to learning and growing in life.
Later, when Lila was hired as the bookkeeper for our church, I had the opportunity to get to know her more personally and professionally. She brought with her not only a strong passion for numbers and detail but also a remarkable ability to explain and teach what she was doing in a clear and relational way.
